Mission Statement:

Creating a sustainable community training and engagement space where entrepreneurs thrive.

Problem:

There are entrepreneurial professionals operating on the margins of the business world that need both a monetizing system and a training space to grow their business skills set.

Solution:

Provide business training, structure, and support as a makerspace or safe training place of collaboration.

Using the Maverick Training Space has a membership fee based on the project, creative needs, and support services provided. A negotiated price will be used on an individual basis that is mutually beneficial to both parties. Monetizing products and services are important to continue to provide them to the community as not monetizing leads to bankrupt projects. Being an entrepreneur without a structure jeopardizes one’s ability to make a living and contribute towards the healthy growth of the communities that we seek to serve.

Being charitable is a wonderful way to live when we have other financial support systems but not when we are in survival mode. Volunteering is a great way to be seen while promoting our products but may not financially support us. Contributing to conferences through unpaid presentations may get our name out in the academic world but keep us in poverty. Publishing content in the world without protecting it first allows others to benefit from it while we go broke. The creative process has rules of production:

  1. Create at will
  2. Always protect your work
  3. Always monetize
  4. Generosity starts at home first and then the world
  5. Give from an abundance position and not a bankrupt position

Maverick Message:

It is a glorious activity that we undertake as leaders in our communities from activists, artists, to scholars. We want to contribute towards a positive change in the world on the shoulders of past icons like Gandhi, Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, Pacho Villa, Jimmy Santiago Baca, and countless others. Our voices must be heard around the globe as we are creating positive change and meaning for others to follow or future generations. Yet, we are challenged in demonstrating our responsibility through understanding the current knowledge, modifying our understandings, and promoting a new generational structure. Grassroot movements of the past have unstructured mass mobilization efforts that fade over time. To maintain change over time, we must stop operating on the margins of business, politics, and the social world; instead, bring our collective voices to the world action platform. The Maverick Training Space is the laboratory where we organize ourselves into said collective voice while monetizing our products and services in a healthy structured manner. Success awaits us brave souls!

Individual training sessions range from 30 ($50.00) to 60 ($100.00) minutes based on personal needs and mental health or quality of life training objectives. In engaging training, you are moving from just verbalizing issues towards acting to solving problems. You are living your life; therefore, you are the expert in it; training will only be effective with your full commitment.

Training expectations must be set to invest resources and time needed to improve one’s quality of life. Becoming a soldier was not an overnight process, instead it took years. It may take the same amount of time in connecting to one’s authentic self while building proficiency in identity, personal, and professional development. The healing and training processes are not pain-free but instead produce pain as together we work through trauma and development issues.

Training is the application of knowledge into real world situations and outcomes are products of effort, energy, and resources input. At no time, is training and The Maverick Scholar, LLC’s services a mental health or quality of life cure all; therefore, liability for outcomes lay with the trainee. All problems between the client and The Maverick Scholar, LLC., will be resolved in an amicable manner or win-win for both sides.

Take the First Step Toward Healing

No matter what you’ve been through, transformation is possible. Healing is not just about fixing what’s broken — it’s about uncovering your strength, rewriting your story, and reclaiming your life. You don’t have to stay stuck in survival mode. The first step is yours to take — and we’re here to walk with you.

What It Means to Heal

The Heal phase is the foundation of the Heal, Train, and Thrive journey. It’s where true transformation begins. Here, we guide you through the process of facing past trauma, navigating emotional attachments, and interrupting the personal narratives that keep you in cycles of pain. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting — it means releasing the grip of the past so you can fully live in the present.

This process is simple in concept: become aware, feel, and release. But it requires deep personal work, courage, and commitment. We provide the structure, tools, and support — you bring your willingness to grow.

Awareness

Recognizing the emotional patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that keep you stuck is the first step toward change.

Emotional Release

Letting yourself fully feel — and safely release — what’s been held inside opens the door to peace and clarity.

Narrative Reframing

We help you rewrite the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what you’re capable of.

Integration

Healing becomes real when new insights are lived out — creating space for aligned choices, habits, and relationships.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily. Healing is for anyone who feels held back by emotional pain, limiting beliefs, or patterns that no longer serve them. Whether your wounds are visible or invisible, your journey is valid.

Healing isn’t linear and there’s no fixed timeline. Some changes happen quickly, while others unfold over time. What matters most is your commitment to the process, not the pace.

Absolutely. You’ll have access to trained guides, supportive communities, and practical tools designed to help you feel safe, seen, and supported every step of the way.

That’s okay. Healing often happens in layers. Sometimes we need new tools, a different approach, or simply a space that truly meets us where we are. We’re here to offer just that.

Understanding the Veteran Transformation Journey

Self-mastery is the foundation for connecting with one’s authentic self and living outwardly with purpose. One of the greatest transformations in military service is the identity shift from civilian to soldier—a profound change that shapes mindsets, behaviors, and belonging.

Yet, when veterans transition out of service, a new challenge arises: redefining purpose, rebuilding identity, and creating a fulfilling civilian life. Our mission is to explore, map, and share transformative training paths that empower veterans and their families to thrive in post-military life.

The Veteran Growth Pyramid

Our research follows a structured framework to ensure knowledge transforms into meaningful action:

Research

Data collection, analysis, and independent studies on veteran needs

Knowledge

Sharing insights through publications, blogs, and expert panels

Training programs

Developing structured, actionable training methods for veterans and their families

Public implementation

Applying insights to create lasting societal impact through policy and community initiatives

Step Into the Next Phase of Your Growth

Healing opens the door — training is what moves you forward. Once you’ve made peace with your past, it’s time to learn new ways of being, thinking, and responding. This phase is about equipping yourself with the skills, values, and mindsets that create lasting transformation. The tools are here — now it’s your turn to train.

What It Means to Train

The Train phase is where you begin to actively shape your future. Training is more than information — it’s the intelligent application of knowledge to real-life situations. It’s learning how to respond rather than react, how to build inner strength, and how to live with clarity, intention, and purpose.

This stage involves deep learning: adopting new behaviors, reshaping belief systems (schemas), and integrating values that support a life of meaning. With each step, you grow more resilient — not by avoiding life’s challenges, but by developing the strength to meet them head-on.

Resilience isn’t just recovery — it’s creative power. When you train your mind and spirit, you move from surviving to thriving, entering a stage where the only limits are the ones you choose.

Behavioral Shifts

Replace old patterns with intentional habits that support your growth and integrity.

Cognitive Restructuring

Learn to challenge distorted thinking and adopt empowering mental frameworks.

Value Alignment

Clarify what truly matters to you and learn to make choices that reflect those values.

Applied Wisdom

Turn what you know into what you do — resilience grows when knowledge meets action.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not exactly. Training is experiential and practical — it focuses on real-world application, not just theory or talk. It’s about building a new way of living.

You’ll learn emotional regulation, communication strategies, boundary-setting, values-based decision making, and other life-enhancing skills tailored to your journey.

Healing and training often happen side by side. While it helps to address your emotional wounds first, many people start training as part of their healing. There’s no perfect order — only forward movement.

Progress becomes clear when you respond differently to challenges, make healthier decisions, and feel more grounded in your identity and purpose.

You’ve Come So Far — Now It’s Time to Truly Live

Reaching the Thrive stage is more than a milestone — it’s a celebration of your courage, your commitment, and your growth. You’ve done the inner work, learned the tools, and broken through limitations. Now, it’s time to step fully into a life that reflects who you truly are: authentic, empowered, and free.

What It Means to Thrive

The Thrive phase is the fruit of your transformation. This is the stage where self-actualization takes root, and you begin living from a place of joy, purpose, and inner freedom. It’s not just about what you do — it’s about how you show up in the world: confident, creative, and fully aligned with your values.

To thrive means to live authentically, with nothing to prove and nothing to hide. You engage life with open-hearted presence, and your energy becomes a force for good — not just for yourself, but for your community and beyond.

You’ve earned this. Now you get to live it.

Authentic Living

You no longer perform — you live from your truth, with integrity and freedom.

Creative Contribution

You channel your energy into purposeful action that reflects your values and passions.

Emotional Liberation

You’re no longer defined by past wounds. Your emotions serve your well-being, not your survival.

Sustainable Joy

Happiness is no longer a moment — it’s a baseline. You live in gratitude, flow, and fulfillment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Thriving isn’t about perfection — it’s about alignment. If you’re living more from your values, experiencing joy more often, and engaging life creatively, you’re thriving. And you can keep growing from here.

Absolutely. Life is dynamic. Sometimes we revisit healing or training — but with each cycle, we return wiser, stronger, and more grounded.

Through continued self-awareness, community, and purpose. Thriving is a lifestyle — one that’s nurtured by habits, support systems, and meaningful action.

Yes. Your journey can become someone else’s inspiration. As you live authentically, you naturally create space for others to grow, heal, and thrive alongside you.

A New Vision for Veteran Advocacy

Unlike traditional think-tanks bound by political or institutional influence, the Maverick Scholar Think Tank operates independently, advocating for policy solutions that support liberated, self-directed living — especially for U.S. military veterans.

Our mission is to inform, research, and influence national dialogue around veterans’ reintegration challenges — such as suicide, financial struggle, homelessness, and disconnection — while promoting sustainable paths to personal empowerment and self-rule.

Why This Work Matters

Far too many veterans leave service only to face invisible battles: loss of identity, lack of purpose, and difficulty adapting to civilian life. Traditional services may help veterans survive — but we’re here to help them thrive.

Our Think Tank is a platform for:

Why This Work Matters

✔ Independent research on identity transformation

✔ Strategic advocacy for veteran-focused policy reform
✔ Development of innovative training models

✔ Public education for decision-makers and communities

The Power of Lived Experience

Dr./Sgt. Eliberto Calderón leads this initiative with a dual lens:

  • 10 years of military service as a U.S. Army Air Defense Specialist (14S)

  • 10 years of post-service struggle, healing, and self-reinvention

  • A Ph.D. in Learning Sciences, with focused research on veteran identity transformation and quality of life improvement.

This unique journey — from soldier to scholar — forms the heart of our think-tank philosophy: transformation is possible, but it requires intentional strategy, research, identity reconstruction and quality of life development.

What We Do:

🔹 Advocate for veteran-focused policies and systemic change

🔹 Empower veterans to live their best lives trough new training programs.
🔹 Lead the national dialogue about veterans and their quality of life needs.

🔹 Protect the quality of life of veterans and their families
🔹 Engage government decision-makers with data driven insights and lived experiences.

The Call to Action

Inspired by the legacy of leaders like Mohandas K. Gandhi, we believe that self-rule — the ability to direct and improve one’s own life — is the foundation of true freedom. Veterans must be empowered not only to survive but to build thriving, liberated lives post-military service.

Our Think Tank will continue to research, educate, and influence policy so that every veteran has the opportunity to reconstruct their identity, regain purpose, and lead their civilian life with clarity, dignity and strength.
